The South Pontotoc Cougars baseball team scored 14 runs and limited the visiting Calhoun City Wildcats to 1 in the Cougars non-league victory on Saturday.
The Cougars (8-3) will now prepare for their match against Senatobia (Senatobia, MS). The Warriors go into the 4A Region 2 match with a 9-7 record. In their last match, Senatobia was overwhelmed by Lake Cormorant (Lake Cormorant, MS), 10-6, in a non-league match.
The Wildcats (5-7) will now prepare for their match against Bruce (Bruce, MS). The Trojans go into the 2A Region 2 match with a 8-5 record. In their last match, Bruce ran past Houlka (Houlka, MS), 11-0, in a non-league match.
