Monticello Mustangs (Charlottesville, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Wilson Memorial Green Hornets (Fishersville, VA), 3-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Mustangs now own a 4-0 record. They take the field next when they host Louisa County for a Jefferson challenge on Wednesday, March 30. Monticello will face a Lions squad coming off a 11-0 league win over Western Albemarle (Crozet, VA). The Lions record now stands at 2-0.

With the loss, Wilson Memorial falls to 1-5 on the campaign. The Green hornets host Spotswood (Penn Laird, VA) to face the Trailblazers in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, March 29. The Trailblazers enter the challenge with a record of 4-0. Spotswood won 4-2 in their recent league challenge against Waynesboro (Waynesboro, VA)
