The crowd at Wednesday's non-league bout between the Union Academy Cardinals (Monroe, NC) and the visiting Marvin Ridge Mavericks (Waxhaw, NC), observed Union Academy's softball team get by Marvin Ridge by a tally of 12-5.

The Cardinals (13-0) will now prepare for their bout against Gray Stone Day (Misenheimer, NC). The Knights go into the Yadkin Valley 1A/2A bout with a 2-5 record. In their last bout, Gray Stone Day was routed by Union Academy (Monroe, NC), 10-0, in a league bout.

In their next game, the Mavericks battle the Sun Valley Spartans (Monroe, NC) in a Southern Carolina 4A bout, on Friday, March 28. Marvin Ridge will attempt to advance on its 9-2 season record. The Spartans go into the bout with a 3-5 record after their 12-1 league loss to Weddington (Matthews, NC).
