Belleville East Lancers (Belleville, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Civic Memorial Eagles (Bethalto, IL), 8-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Lancers now own a 3-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Alton for a Southwestern challenge on Thursday, March 30. Belleville East will battle a Redbirds squad coming off a 9-5 non-league win over Roxana (Roxana, IL). The Redbirds record now stands at 1-2.

With the loss, Civic Memorial falls to 4-1 on the campaign. The Eagles host Litchfield (Litchfield, IL) to battle the Purple Panthers in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, March 28. The Purple Panthers enter the challenge with a record of 3-0. Litchfield won 21-4 in their recent non-league challenge against Marquette Catholic (Alton, IL)
