Cambria Heights Highlanders (Patton, PA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Conemaugh Valley Blue Jays (Johnstown, PA), 7-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Highlanders now own a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Blairsville for a Heritage challenge on Wednesday, March 29.

With the loss, Conemaugh Valley falls to 0-1 on the campaign. The Blue jays travel to Blacklick Valley (Nanty Glo, PA) to battle the Vikings in a Western Pennsylvania - Northern challenge on Thursday, March 30. The Vikings enter the challenge with a record of 0-2. Blacklick Valley lost 3-2 in their recent league challenge against Conemaugh Township (Davidsville, PA)
