Lafayette Commodores (Oxford, MS) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Pontotoc Warriors (Pontotoc, MS), 4-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Commodores now own a 9-8 record. They take the field next when they host Cleveland Central for a 5A Region 2 challenge on Tuesday, March 28. Lafayette will battle a Wolves squad coming off a 16-1 league win over Lake Cormorant (Lake Cormorant, MS). The Wolves record now stands at 8-4.

With the loss, Pontotoc falls to 5-8 on the campaign. The Warriors travel to New Albany (New Albany, MS) to battle the Bulldogs in a 4A Region 2 challenge on Tuesday, March 28. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a record of 6-7. New Albany lost 2-0 in their recent league challenge against Houston (Houston, MS)
