Heath Bulldogs (Heath, OH) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Newark Wildcats (Newark, OH), 4-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Bulldogs now own a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they host Granville for a Licking County challenge on Friday, April 1.

With the loss, Newark falls to 2-1 on the campaign. The Wildcats travel to Lakewood (Hebron, OH) to battle the Lancers in a non-league challenge on Wednesday, March 30. The Lancers enter the challenge with a record of 1-0. Lakewood won 13-3 in their recent non-league challenge against Fairfield Union (Lancaster, OH)
