Illinois High School Softball - Newton bounces Hutsonville/Palestine

Newton Eagles (Newton, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Hutsonville/Palestine Tigers (Palestine, IL), 16-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Eagles now own a 5-0 record. They take the field next when they host Effingham for a non-league challenge on Monday, April 3. Newton will battle a Flaming Hearts squad coming off a 7-5 non-league win over Marshall (Marshall, IL). The Flaming Hearts record now stands at 2-1.

With the loss, Hutsonville/Palestine falls to 1-1 on the campaign. The Tigers host Martinsville (Martinsville, IL) to battle the Bluestreaks in a Egyptian Illini challenge on Wednesday, March 29. The Bluestreaks enter the challenge with a record of 0-1. Martinsville lost 10-8 in their recent league challenge against Dugger Union (Dugger, IN)
