Brown County Hornets (Mt. Sterling, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Pittsfield Saukees (Pittsfield, IL), 12-9 in a non-league challenge.

The Hornets now own a 4-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Calhoun for a Western Illinois Valley - South challenge on Thursday, March 30. Brown County will face a Warriors squad coming off a 12-0 non-league win over East Alton-Wood River (Wood River, IL). The Warriors record now stands at 4-2.

With the loss, Pittsfield falls to 0-2 on the campaign. The Saukees host Seymour (Payson, IL) to face the Indians in a non-league challenge on Thursday, April 6. The Indians enter the challenge with a record of 1-5.
