Reed-Custer Comets (Braidwood, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Ottawa Pirates (Ottawa, IL), 5-4 in a non-league challenge.

The Comets now own a 5-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Streator for a Illinois Central Eight challenge on Monday, April 1. Reed-Custer will face a Bulldogs squad coming off a 10-0 non-league win over Prairie Central (Fairbury, IL). The Bulldogs record now stands at 2-3.

With the loss, Ottawa falls to 5-3 on the campaign. The Pirates travel to Oswego (Oswego, IL) to face the Panthers in a non-league challenge on Wednesday, April 3. The Panthers enter the challenge with a record of 5-2.
