In Saturday's non-league match, the host Izard County Cougars softball team scored a tight 3-0 victory over the Walnut Ridge Bobcats.
The Cougars (7-2) will now prepare for their match against Buffalo Island Central (Monette, AR). The Mustangs go into the non-league match with a 4-2 record. In their last match, Buffalo Island Central tipped Marshall (Marshall, AR), 5-4, in a non-league match.
In their next game, the Bobcats battle the Magazine Rattlers (Magazine, AR) in a non-league match, on Saturday, March 29. Walnut Ridge will attempt to better on its 5-3 season record. The Rattlers go into the match with a 3-2 record after their 8-2 non-league win over Valley Springs (Valley Springs, AR).
