Monterey Plainsmen (Lubbock, TX) fans exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Lovejoy Leopards (Lucas, TX), 9-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Plainsmen now sport a 8-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Grapevine for a non-league challenge on Friday, March 4. Monterey will face a Mustangs squad coming off a 16-13 non-league loss to Byron Nelson (Trophy Club, TX). The Mustangs record now stands at 0-4.

With the loss, Lovejoy falls to 5-5 on the campaign. The Leopards travel to V.R. Eaton (Fort Worth, TX) to face the Eagles in a non-league challenge on Thursday, March 3. The Eagles enter the challenge with a record of 3-0.
