El Campo Ricebirds (El Campo, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Columbus Cardinals (Columbus, TX), 3-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Ricebirds now own a 15-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Boling for a non-league challenge on Friday, March 3. El Campo will battle a Bulldogs squad coming off a 15-0 non-league win over Stafford (Stafford, TX). The Bulldogs record now stands at 3-4.

With the loss, Columbus falls to 4-4 on the campaign. The Cardinals host Industrial (Vanderbilt, TX) to battle the Cobras in a 3A Region IV District 25 challenge on Tuesday, March 7. The Cobras enter the challenge with a record of 12-3. Industrial won 8-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Odem (Odem, TX)
