Mary G. Montgomery Vikings (Semmes, AL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Jay Royals (Jay, FL), 5-4 in a non-league challenge.

The Vikings now own a 5-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Niceville for a non-league challenge on Saturday, March 4. Mary G. Montgomery will battle a Eagles squad coming off a 13-3 non-league win over Lincoln (Tallahassee, FL). The Eagles record now stands at 3-2.

With the loss, Jay falls to 2-3 on the campaign. The Royals travel to Liberty County (Bristol, FL) to battle the Bulldogs in a non-league challenge on Saturday, March 4. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a record of 2-4. Liberty County lost 8-5 in their recent non-league challenge against South Sumter (Bushnell, FL)
