Whitney Wildcats (Whitney, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Madisonville Mustangs (Madisonville, TX), 5-4 in a non-league challenge.

The Wildcats now own a 3-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Buffalo for a non-league challenge on Saturday, March 4. Whitney will face a Bison squad coming off a 7-4 non-league loss to Bremond (Bremond, TX). The Bison record now stands at 14-4.

With the loss, Madisonville falls to 6-11 on the campaign. The Mustangs travel to Dawson (Dawson, TX) to face the Bulldogs in a non-league challenge on Saturday, March 4. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a record of 8-7. Dawson won 10-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Westwood (Palestine, TX)
