Boyd Broncos (McKinney, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Mount Vernon Tigers (Mount Vernon, TX), 5-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Broncos now own a 13-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Whitehouse for a non-league challenge on Friday, March 3. Boyd will battle a Wildcats squad coming off a 4-0 non-league win over McKinney North (McKinney, TX). The Wildcats record now stands at 14-2.

With the loss, Mount Vernon falls to 3-3 on the campaign. The Tigers travel to Winnsboro (Winnsboro, TX) to battle the Raiders in a 3A Region II District 13 challenge on Tuesday, March 7. The Raiders enter the challenge with a record of 8-3. Winnsboro won 21-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Paris (Paris, TX)
