In Wednesday's non-league contest, the Chase Trojans (Forest City, NC) softball team overwhelmed the visiting Shelby Golden Lions (Shelby, NC), by a margin of 20-5.

With the triumph, Chase moves its record to 7-2 on the year. The Trojans host Polk County (Columbus, NC) to play the Wolverines in a Mountain Foothills Seven 2A contest on Friday, April 1. The Wolverines come into the contest with a record of 5-4. Polk County won 8-5 in their recent non-league contest against North Henderson (Hendersonville, NC)

In their next game, the Golden Lions play the Thomas Jefferson Gryphons (Mooresboro, NC) in a Southern Piedmont 1A/2A contest, on Friday, April 1. Shelby will attempt to move on its 1-9 season record. The Gryphons come into the contest with a 0-8 record after their 10-0 non-league loss to Owen (Black Mountain, NC).
