Lakewood Lancers (Hebron, OH) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Newark Wildcats (Newark, OH), 14-11 in a non-league challenge.

The Lancers now own a 2-0 record. They take the field next when they host Licking Valley for a Licking County challenge on Friday, April 1. Lakewood will face a Panthers squad coming off a 12-4 non-league win over Maysville (Zanesville, OH). The Panthers record now stands at 1-0.

With the loss, Newark falls to 2-2 on the campaign. The Wildcats host Waynesville (Waynesville, OH) to face the Spartans in a non-league challenge on Saturday, April 2. The Spartans enter the challenge with a record of 2-1. Waynesville lost 12-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Beavercreek (Beavercreek, OH)
