Mid Valley Spartans (Throop, PA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Tunkhannock Tigers (Tunkhannock, PA), 3-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Spartans now own a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Western Wayne for a Lackawanna 3 challenge on Friday, April 1.

With the loss, Tunkhannock falls to 0-1 on the campaign. The Tigers host Pottsville (Pottsville, PA) to face the Crimson Tide in a non-league challenge on Saturday, April 2. The Crimson Tide enter the challenge with a record of 1-1. Pottsville won 15-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Daniel Boone (Birdsboro, PA)
