Washington Blue Lions (Washington Courthouse, OH) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting East Clinton Astros (Sabina, OH), 5-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Blue Lions now own a 1-1 record. They take the field next when they host Blanchester for a non-league challenge on Saturday, April 1. Washington will battle a Wildcats squad coming off a 15-5 non-league loss to Western Brown (Mt. Orab, OH). The Wildcats record now stands at 0-1.

With the loss, East Clinton falls to 0-3 on the campaign. The Astros host Clinton-Massie (Clarksville, OH) to battle the Falcons in a non-league challenge on Friday, March 31. The Falcons enter the challenge with a record of 0-1. Clinton-Massie lost 20-3 in their recent league challenge against Western Brown (Mt. Orab, OH)
