Florence Gophers (Florence, AZ) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad achieve victory over the host Tonopah Valley Phoenix (Tonopah, AZ), 24-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Gophers now own a 9-7 record. They take the field next when they travel to Gilbert Christian for a 3A South Central challenge on Tuesday, April 4. Florence will face a Knights squad coming off a 18-4 league loss to Coolidge (Coolidge, AZ). The Knights record now stands at 1-6.

With the loss, Tonopah Valley falls to 6-5 on the campaign. The Phoenix travel to Yuma Catholic (Yuma, AZ) to face the Shamrocks in a 3A West challenge on Saturday, April 1. The Shamrocks enter the challenge with a record of 15-1. Yuma Catholic won 20-1 in their recent league challenge against Tonopah Valley (Tonopah, AZ)
