In Thursday's non-league contest, the Mt. Vernon Rams (Mt. Vernon, IL) softball team held off the visiting Mattoon Greenwave (Mattoon, IL), by a margin of 3-2.
With the triumph, Mt. Vernon moves its record to 3-3 on the year. The Rams travel to Vandalia (Vandalia, IL) to play the Vandals in a non-league contest on Saturday, April 1. The Vandals come into the contest with a record of 0-3. Vandalia lost 10-2 in their recent non-league contest against Teutopolis (Teutopolis, IL)
In their next game, the Greenwave play the Normal West Wildcats (Normal, IL) in a non-league contest, on Wednesday, April 5. Mattoon will attempt to move on its 2-3 season record. The Wildcats come into the contest with a 7-2 record after their 3-2 non-league loss to Rockvale (Rockvale, TN).
