Mesquite Wildcats (Gilbert, AZ) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad achieve victory over the visiting Shadow Mountain Matadors (Phoenix, AZ), 12-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Wildcats now own a 3-12 record. They take the field next when they travel to Seton Catholic for a 4A Desert Sky challenge on Friday, April 1. Mesquite will face a Sentinels squad coming off a 7-4 non-league loss to Notre Dame Prep (Scottsdale, AZ). The Sentinels record now stands at 7-5.

With the loss, Shadow Mountain falls to 4-5 on the campaign. The Matadors travel to St. Mary's (Phoenix, AZ) to face the Knights in a 4A Skyline challenge on Tuesday, April 5. The Knights enter the challenge with a record of 8-10. St. Mary's won 20-10 in their recent league challenge against Moon Valley (Phoenix, AZ)
