Spectators at Friday's non-league battle between the Mitchell Mountaineers (Bakersville, NC) and the host Hampton Bulldogs (Hampton, TN), saw Mitchell's baseball squad knock off Hampton by a count of 12-8.

Coming up next, the Mountaineers play the Draughn Wildcats (Valdese, NC) in a Western Highlands 1A/2A battle, on Tuesday, April 4. Mitchell will attempt to move on its 1-9 season record. The Wildcats enter the battle with a 9-3 record after their 10-0 league win over Avery County (Newland, NC).

The Bulldogs now possess a 2-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to North Greene for a 1A District 1 battle on Monday, April 3. Hampton will play a Huskies squad coming off a 22-6 non-league loss to Cherokee (Rogersville, TN). The Huskies record now stands at 5-1.
