In Friday's non-league battle, the host Union Academy Cardinals soccer squad scored a close 5-0 win over the Queen's Grant Stallions.
The Cardinals (3-0) will now prepare for their battle against Piedmont (Monroe, NC). The Panthers go into the non-league battle with a 2-0 record. In their last battle, Piedmont nipped Butler (Matthews, NC), 5-1, in a non-league battle.
The Stallions (0-2) will now prepare for their battle against Piedmont Community Charter (Gastonia, NC). The Patriots go into the Metro Eight 1A battle with a 1-1 record. In their last battle, Piedmont Community Charter was overwhelmed by Highland Tech (Gastonia, NC), 4-2, in a non-league battle.
