Shallowater Mustangs (Shallowater, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Alpine Bucks (Alpine, TX), 5-4 in a non-league challenge.

The Mustangs now own a 1-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Monahans for a non-league challenge on Saturday, March 5. Shallowater will face a Loboes squad coming off a 1-0 non-league win over Presidio (Presidio, TX). The Loboes record now stands at 7-3.

With the loss, Alpine falls to 3-6 on the campaign. The Bucks host Crane (Crane, TX) to face the Cranes in a non-league challenge on Monday, March 7. The Cranes enter the challenge with a record of 0-4. Crane lost 20-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Idalou (Idalou, TX)
