Clayton Comets (Clayton, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting South Johnston Trojans (Four Oaks, NC), 2-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Comets now own a 2-1 record. They take the field next when they host West Johnston for a non-league challenge on Wednesday, March 9. Clayton will battle a Wildcats squad coming off a 3-0 non-league loss to Fuquay - Varina (Fuquay-Varina, NC). The Wildcats record now stands at 2-1.

With the loss, South Johnston falls to 1-1 on the campaign. The Trojans host Corinth Holders (Wendell, NC) to battle the Pirates in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, March 8. The Pirates enter the challenge with a record of 3-0. Corinth Holders won 10-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Hunt (Wilson, NC)
