Abilene Eagles (Abilene, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the host McKinney Lions (McKinney, TX), 3-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Eagles now own a 16-2 record. They take the field next when they host Wylie for a 5A Region I District 4 challenge on Tuesday, March 7. Abilene will battle a Bulldogs squad coming off a 6-4 non-league loss to Jacksboro (Jacksboro, TX). The Bulldogs record now stands at 1-3.

With the loss, McKinney falls to 4-5 on the campaign. The Lions travel to Boyd (McKinney, TX) to battle the Broncos in a 6A Region I District 5 challenge on Thursday, March 9. The Broncos enter the challenge with a record of 14-4. Boyd lost 11-4 in their recent league challenge against Allen (Allen, TX)
