In Saturday's non-league contest, the Elgin Wildcats (Elgin, TX) softball team overwhelmed the visiting McNeil Mavericks (Austin, TX), by a margin of 14-0.

With the triumph, Elgin moves its record to 11-7 on the year. The Wildcats host East View (Georgetown, TX) to play the Patriots in a 5A Region III District 23 contest on Tuesday, March 7. The Patriots come into the contest with a record of 13-6. East View lost 9-5 in their recent non-league contest against Robinson (Robinson, TX)

In their next game, the Mavericks play the Vandegrift Vipers (Austin, TX) in a 6A Region IV District 25 contest, on Tuesday, March 7. McNeil will attempt to move on its 3-12 season record. The Vipers come into the contest with a 3-8 record after their 17-4 league win over Manor (Manor, TX).
