Weslaco East Wildcats (Weslaco, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Orange Grove Bulldogs (Orange Grove, TX), 6-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Wildcats now own a 13-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Porter for a 5A Region IV District 32 challenge on Tuesday, March 8. Weslaco East will battle a Cowboys squad coming off a 15-0 league loss to Veterans Memorial (Brownsville, TX). The Cowboys record now stands at 1-2.

With the loss, Orange Grove falls to 0-9 on the campaign. The Bulldogs host George West (George West, TX) to battle the Longhorns in a 3A Region IV District 29 challenge on Tuesday, March 8. The Longhorns enter the challenge with a record of 4-9. George West lost 13-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Robstown (Robstown, TX)
