The crowd at Thursday's non-league battle between the Newman Smith Trojans (Carrollton, TX) and the host Independence Knights (Frisco, TX), saw Newman Smith's baseball team gain a win over Independence by a tally of 7-4.

The Trojans (6-3) will now prepare for their battle against McKinney (McKinney, TX). The Lions enter the non-league battle with a 5-3 record. In their last battle, McKinney held off Sherman (Sherman, TX), 10-4, in a non-league battle.

Next, the Knights face the Westlake Chaparrals (Austin, TX) in a non-league battle, on Saturday, March 8. Independence will attempt to upgrade on its 3-2 season record. The Chaparrals enter the battle with a 9-1 record after their 7-4 non-league loss to College Park (The Woodlands, TX).
