The Newport Greyhounds (Newport, AR) softball routed the visiting Buffalo Island Central Mustangs (Monette, AR), 12-6 in Monday's non-league bout.

The Greyhounds (3-0) will now prepare for their bout against Bald Knob (Bald Knob, AR). The Bulldogs go into the 3A-2 bout with a 0-1 record.

The Mustangs now possess a 0-1 record. They play next when they travel to Bay for a 2A-3 bout on Wednesday, March 9. Buffalo Island Central will confront a Yellowjackets squad coming off a 12-0 league loss to East Poinsett County (Lepanto, AR). The Yellowjackets record now stands at 1-1.
