Cannon Cougars (Concord, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting West Cabarrus Wolverines (Concord, NC), 8-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Cougars now own a 2-2 record. They take the field next when they host Marvin Ridge for a non-league challenge on Thursday, March 9. Cannon will battle a Mavericks squad coming off a 11-4 non-league win over Independence (Charlotte, NC). The Mavericks record now stands at 4-0.

With the loss, West Cabarrus falls to 0-3 on the campaign. The Wolverines host Cox Mill (Concord, NC) to battle the Chargers in a Greater Metro 4A challenge on Thursday, March 9. The Chargers enter the challenge with a record of 2-2. Cox Mill won 5-3 in their recent non-league challenge against Cuthbertson (Waxhaw, NC)
