South Caldwell Spartans (Hudson, NC) fans exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Elkin Buckin' Elks (Elkin, NC), 4-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Spartans now sport a 5-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Crest for a non-league challenge on Wednesday, March 13.

With the loss, Elkin falls to 2-2 on the campaign. The Buckin' elks host West Iredell (Statesville, NC) to face the Warriors in a non-league challenge on Friday, March 8. The Warriors enter the challenge with a record of 0-1. West Iredell lost 9-5 in their recent non-league challenge against Elkin (Elkin, NC)
