Shiprock Chieftains (Shiprock, NM) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad achieve victory over the host Grants Pirates (Grants, NM), 13-3 in a non-league challenge.

The Chieftains now own a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they host Santa Fe for a non-league challenge on Friday, March 8. Shiprock will face a Demons squad coming off a 13-3 non-league loss to Belen (Belen, NM). The Demons record now stands at 1-1.

With the loss, Grants falls to 2-4 on the campaign. The Pirates travel to Kirtland Central (Kirtland, NM) to face the Broncos in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, March 12. The Broncos enter the challenge with a record of 2-2.
