The crowd at Friday's non-league bout between the Henderson Lions (Henderson, TX) and the host Hudson Hornets (Lufkin, TX), observed Henderson's softball squad hold off Hudson by a tally of 4-3.

Next, the Lions meet the Pine Tree Pirates (Longview, TX) in a 4A Region II District 16 test, on Thursday, March 13. Henderson will attempt to advance on its 13-4 season record. The Pirates go into the test with a 6-10 record after their 17-3 league win over Chapel Hill (Tyler, TX).

The Hornets (10-9) will now prepare for their test against BVCHEA HomeSchool (Bryan, TX). The Mustangs go into the non-league test with a 2-9 record. In their last test, BVCHEA HomeSchool was nudged by Silsbee (Silsbee, TX), 14-3, in a non-league test.
