Grapeland Sandies (Grapeland, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Cayuga Wildcats (Cayuga, TX), 5-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Sandies now own a 3-11 record. They take the field next when they travel to Centerville for a 1A Region IV District 25 challenge on Monday, March 11. Grapeland will face a Tigers squad coming off a 10-0 non-league loss to Caldwell (Caldwell, TX). The Tigers record now stands at 2-8.

With the loss, Cayuga falls to 3-9 on the campaign. The Wildcats host Neches (Neches, TX) to face the Tigers in a 2A Region III District 20 challenge on Tuesday, March 12. The Tigers enter the challenge with a record of 1-0.
