Santa Gertrudis Academy Lions (Kingsville, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Miller Buccaneers (Corpus Christi, TX), 5-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Lions now own a 9-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Ingleside for a non-league challenge on Wednesday, March 13.

With the loss, Miller falls to 13-7 on the campaign. The Buccaneers travel to Flour Bluff (Corpus Christi, TX) to face the Hornets in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, March 12. The Hornets enter the challenge with a record of 3-9. Flour Bluff lost 15-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Weslaco (Weslaco, TX)
