Spectators at Thursday's non-league match between the Sumter Gamecocks (Sumter, SC) and the visiting Lakewood Gators (Sumter, SC), witnessed Sumter's softball squad prevail over Lakewood by a count of 13-3.

The Gamecocks now sport a 2-0 record. They play next when they travel to St. James for a AAAAA Region 5 match on Monday, March 13. Sumter will face a Sharks squad coming off a 9-8 non-league win over North Myrtle Beach (Little River, SC). The Sharks record now stands at 1-0.

With the loss, Lakewood moves to 0-1 on the season. The Gators travel to Camden (Camden, SC) to face the Bulldogs in a AAA Region 6 match on Tuesday, March 21. The Bulldogs go into the match with a record of 1-1.
