West Wilkes Blackhawks (Millers Creek, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad run past the host Mountain Island Charter Raptor (Mt. Holly, NC), 9-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Blackhawks now own a 3-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Wilkes Central for a Foothills 2A challenge on Tuesday, March 14. West Wilkes will battle a Eagles squad coming off a 14-4 non-league loss to Hibriten (Lenoir, NC). The Eagles record now stands at 0-5.

With the loss, Mountain Island Charter falls to 1-4 on the campaign. The Raptor travel to Lincoln Charter (Denver, NC) to battle the Eagles in a Catawba Shores Athletic 1A/2A challenge on Tuesday, March 14. The Eagles enter the challenge with a record of 1-2. Lincoln Charter won 7-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Metrolina Christian Academy (Indian Trail, NC)
