Winfield Pirates (Winfield, AL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Hackleburg Panthers (Hackleburg, AL), 5-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Pirates now own a 16-5 record. They take the field next when they host Haleyville for a non-league challenge on Monday, April 4. Winfield will face a Lions squad coming off a 5-1 league win over Hamilton (Hamilton, AL). The Lions record now stands at 6-6.

With the loss, Hackleburg falls to 8-7 on the campaign. The Panthers travel to Vina (Vina, AL) to face the Red Devils in a 1A Area 14 challenge on Thursday, April 7. The Red Devils enter the challenge with a record of 3-9.
