Kankakee Valley Kougars (Wheatfield, IN) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad run past the host Kouts Mustangs & Fillies (Kouts, IN), 11-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Kougars now own a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Lowell for a Northwest Crossroads challenge on Tuesday, April 5. Kankakee Valley will battle a Red Devils squad coming off a 12-3 non-league loss to Lake Central (St. John, IN). The Red Devils record now stands at 0-1.

With the loss, Kouts falls to 0-1 on the campaign. The Mustangs & fillies host Merrillville (Merrillville, IN) to battle the Pirates in a non-league game on Monday, April 4. The Pirates come into the game with a record of 0-1. Merrillville lost 10-2 in their recent non-league game against Griffith (Griffith, IN)
