The crowd at Monday's non-league match between the Middleton Cardinals (Middleton, WI) and the host River Valley Blackhawks (Spring Green, WI), saw Middleton's softball squad nip River Valley by a count of 3-0.

The Cardinals now sport a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they host Beloit Memorial for a Big Eight match on Tuesday, April 11.

With the loss, River Valley falls to 2-3 on the campaign. The Blackhawks travel to Lancaster (Lancaster, WI) to face the Flying Arrows in a Southwest Wisconsin match on Tuesday, April 11.
