North Surry Greyhounds (Mount Airy, NC) fans were thrilled Wednesday as they observed their soccer team hold off the host Elkin Buckin' Elks (Elkin, NC), 1-0 in a non-league challenge.

Next, the Greyhounds face the North Wilkes Vikings (Hays, NC) in a Foothills 2A challenge, on Friday, April 12. North Surry will attempt to better on its 8-2 season record. The Vikings enter the challenge with a 2-8 record after their 7-0 league loss to Forbush (East Bend, NC).

The Buckin' Elks now have a 8-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to East Wilkes for a Northwest 1A challenge on Thursday, April 11. Elkin will face a Cardinals team coming off a 1-1 league Alleghany (Sparta, NC). The Cardinals record now stands at 3-3.
