Monterey Trail Mustangs (Elk Grove, CA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Cordova Lancers (Rancho Cordova, CA), 6-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Mustangs now own a 8-7 record. They take the field next when they travel to West Campus for a non-league challenge on Thursday, April 11. Monterey Trail will battle a Warriors squad coming off a 14-3 league win over Valley (Sacramento, CA). The Warriors record now stands at 6-4.

With the loss, Cordova falls to 5-4 on the campaign. The Lancers host Florin (Sacramento, CA) to battle the Panthers in a Greater Sacramento challenge on Thursday, April 11. The Panthers enter the challenge with a record of 0-3. Florin lost 19-4 in their recent league challenge against Foothill (Sacramento, CA)
