The New Bern Bears softball team scored 7 runs and limited the visiting West Carteret Patriots to 6 in the Bears non-league triumph on Monday.

With the triumph, New Bern improves its record to 10-5 on the year. The Bears travel to South Central (Winterville, NC) to clash with the Falcons in a Big East 3A/4A game on Thursday, April 14. The Falcons come into the game with a record of 8-3. South Central won 9-0 in their recent league game against J.H. Rose (Greenville, NC)

In their next game, the Patriots clash with the Croatan Cougars (Newport, NC) in a Coastal 3A game, on Tuesday, April 12. West Carteret will attempt to improve on its 7-5 season record. The Cougars come into the game with a 2-7 record after their 10-0 league loss to Richlands (Richlands, NC).
