Quincy Notre Dame Raiders (Quincy, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Southwestern Piasa Birds (Piasa, IL), 12-8 in a non-league challenge.

The Raiders now own a 6-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Rushville-Industry for a West Central challenge on Friday, April 12. Quincy Notre Dame will face a Rockets squad coming off a 14-0 league win over Mendon Unity (Mendon, IL). The Rockets record now stands at 4-3.

With the loss, Southwestern falls to 7-8 on the campaign. The Piasa birds travel to Vandalia (Vandalia, IL) to face the Vandals in a South Central challenge on Friday, April 12. The Vandals enter the challenge with a record of 0-12. Vandalia lost 17-1 in their recent league challenge against Gillespie (Gillespie, IL)
