In Saturday's non-league test, the Springfield Cougars (Springfield, PA) lacrosse team overwhelmed the visiting St. Joseph's Prep Hawks (Philadelphia, PA), by a count of 13-3.
Next up, the Cougars battle the Shoreham-Wading River Wildcats (Shoreham, NY) in a non-league test, on Wednesday, April 16. Springfield will attempt to move on its 8-1 season record.
The Hawks (8-1) will now prepare for their test against Father Judge (Philadelphia, PA). The Crusaders enter the Catholic test with a 3-4 record.
Game Summary
Springfield held their own in this morning's matchup with Philadelphia Catholic League's, St. Joe's Prep. The Cougars got off to a 2 goal lead before Prep scored at the end of the 1st making it a 1 goal lead after 1. Both teams traded goals early in the 2nd keeping it a 1 goal game until the final 1:45 in the quarter when Springfield's Tyler Henderson and Luke Valerio went back to back boosting the lead to 5-2 going into the half. Springfield turned on the jets in the 3rd scoring 5 goals to St. Joes 1. The Cougars got help adding 3 more unanswered goals in the 4th leading them to a 13-3 victory!
