Mathews Mustangs (Vienna, OH) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad achieve victory over the visiting Mineral Ridge Rams (Mineral Ridge, OH), 12-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Mustangs now own a 5-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Chalker for a Northeastern Athletic challenge on Friday, April 14. Mathews will face a Wildcats squad coming off a 3-0 non-league loss to Poland Seminary (Poland, OH). The Wildcats record now stands at 4-2.

With the loss, Mineral Ridge falls to 2-5 on the campaign. The Rams host Western Reserve (Berlin Center, OH) to face the Blue Devils in a Mahoning Valley Athletic - Scarlet challenge on Friday, April 14. The Blue Devils enter the challenge with a record of 7-0. Western Reserve won 29-8 in their recent non-league challenge against Struthers (Struthers, OH)
