Ponaganset Chieftains (North Scituate, RI) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Coventry Oakers (Coventry, RI), 6-4 in a non-league challenge.

The Chieftains now own a 5-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Toll Gate for a Division 2 challenge on Monday, April 15. Ponaganset will battle a Titans squad coming off a 4-1 league loss to South Kingstown (Wakefield, RI). The Titans record now stands at 0-3.

With the loss, Coventry falls to 2-1 on the campaign. The Oakers host Cumberland (Cumberland, RI) to battle the Clippers in a Division 1 (State) challenge on Tuesday, April 16. The Clippers enter the challenge with a record of 2-1. Cumberland won 7-6 in their recent league challenge against North Kingstown (North Kingstown, RI)
